A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, including in that event previously this season.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early-game chances in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
