An individual who laced sweets with sedative and provided them to youngsters at a summer program in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two children who were between nine and ten.

The defendant was arrested after eight children and a grown-up fell ill at the facility in July.

The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old child.

The accused was held in detention ahead of a further hearing on late November.

'Treat game'

The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She explained his those affected were under-privileged children who were attending a summer program which he operated.

The man engaged in a "sweet game" with the minors, Mrs Prior said, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and tell them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She informed the proceedings Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and minors had previously become sick the next day.

She said the man had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had worries in recently.

Mrs Prior KC stated further: "In the summer" his stepson had concerns about the activities, justifiably.

"They chose" to examine in the defendant's belongings."

The legal counsel explained materials including baby oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were discovered, and his family member alerted the authorities about his worries.

She explained Ruben proceeded to play the "sweet game" with six children that evening - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the next day.

"Authorities" had not responded by that point," she continued.

The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.

Mrs Prior said the children were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the family member called the authorities once more.

She said the man then conducted the "candy game" in a room of five children.
